Holders of over 40 quality and market recognition awards, all Europa purifiers are certified according to the most renown domestic and international quality entities, and have been proven to be among the best options for water purification currently available across the world.
All Europa purifiers are in conformity with the Brazilian standards NBR 14908:2004 (pressure apparatus, installed in the piping) and NBR 15176:2004 (apparatus that work by gravitational force, such as the Europa Jug portable purifier) of ABNT – Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas (Brazilian Association of Technical Standards), with tests confirmed by the IFBQ - Falcão Bauer Quality Institute.
Europa is the sector’s manufacturer with the largest quantity of certified purifiers end every Europa purifier has received the top classification with a rating above 94% in chlorine reduction at the time of consumption, which cumulative effect in the organism can cause adverse results such as nausea, heartburn and gastritis, among the most common. Chlorine retention influences obtaining pure and crystalline water, proving the efficiency of activated granulated carbon with colloidal silver used in the chambers of Europa purifiers, element directly responsible for adsorbing chemical and organic substances.
Every electric model also presents the INMETRO mandatory conformity mark of electric safety and material constructive quality, conferred to Europa by BVQI - Bureau Veritas Quality International, world leader in quality certifications, present in over 140 countries and approved by 30 certification entities throughout the world.
Europa also obtained through BVQI the EC – European Community - Seal for the Noblesse, Summer Line and CTA Smart purifiers, certification that proves the electric safety and material constructive quality according to the strict European Common Market standards, certification that gradually will be obtained by all Europas’s line.
The manufacturing quality of the more than 40 products that comprise Europa’s line – between water purifiers, Whole House Filters, Residential Sauna and accessories - is certified by ISO 9001:2008, obtained by Brasfilter, company of the group that produces the Europa purifiers. |
The certification is recognised worldwide and was granted by Rina, Italian entity internationally renown and since 1861 involved in quality management. |

The purification systems used by the Europa Group are indicated for water previously treated and use modern technologies for the physical, chemical and microbiological treatment of water, such as Hollow Fibre, which does not allow bacteria through as it has over 400 billion de micropores with 0.3 micron – a number 250 times smaller than the diameter of a thread of hair – the fact being that it is the smallest bacteria known to man, which can contaminate water, is larger than 0.3 micron; and UV Light System, which provides the disinfection of cloudy water in a especial chamber by the action of ultraviolet light, which eliminates the bacteria. As a result of confirming the elimination of fecal and total coliformes, protozoars and bacteria such as Vibrio cholerae, which causes cholera, Europa purifiers with HF and UV Light Systems were the first in Brazil to receive the Microbiological Efficiency Seal with the INMETRO/Inor marks.
The HF and UV Light Systems complement the SNTA – Natural System of Water Treatment, process present in every Europa purifier, which uses substances such as quartz, dolomite and activated carbon with colloidal silver in the water treatment and purification, eliminating unpleasant smells and tastes and reducing nearly all chlorine levels, at the time of consumption. As a result of the treatment characteristics, Europa purifiers also enhance the water with calcium and magnesium, combined or separated.

Seal – Apparatus to Improve Water for Human Consumption Certification – NBR 14908:2004
Comprised by three blocks, the IFBQ Seal –Apparatus to Improve Water for Human Consumption Certification – NBR 14908:2004 – is specific for pressure apparatus, being easy to identify by its logotype, in Europa’s case, of IFBQ – Falcão Bauer Quality Institute, responsible for the certification process. At the bottom of the seal, there is an inscription "The tests were performed according to NBR 14908:2004", that governs pressure apparatus in conformity with the ABNT – Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas (Brazilian Association of Technical Standards).
In the first block are the product’s model, code, manufacturer and trademark.
In the second, Mandatory Tests, present the tests: Hydrostatic Pressure; Stress; Microbiological Level Control; and Determining Extractable Substances.
The third block, Classification Tests, is noted by the inscription Checking Efficiency, gathering the tests Retention of Particles; Reduction of Free Chlorine; and Bacteriological Efficiency, where the consumer will have specific information on the product’s characteristics regarding water physical, chemical and bacteriological treatment. |
Hydrostatic Pressure: checking the supportability of the hydraulic network efforts. The apparatus are submitted to pressures of 6 kgf/cm² (outlet) or 7.5 kgf/cm² (inlet) during 15 minutes, and must maintain structural integrity and have no leaks.
Stress: checking the resistance to hydraulic efforts resulting from the use during the product’s declared life span. In the case of outlet apparatus (e.g.: Europa pressure purifiers), the product is submitted to 10,000 cycles of pressure of 2 kgf/cm². In inlet apparatus (e.g.: Europa FE 600 Whole House Filters), the requirements are greater, 100,000 cycles at 7.5 kgf/cm². In both cases, the product must maintain structural integrity and have no leaks.
Microbiological Level Control: confirms the absence of microorganism growth within the apparatus, mainly when it is not in use.
Determining Extractable Substances: detects if substances originated from the constitutive materials of the apparatus, which eventually have been incorporated to the water when in contact with the product, are within the standards allowed by Brazilian legislation. In total 23 items are analysed, according to Administrative Rule 1469/2000 of the Ministry of Health of Brazil.

Retention of Particles: capacity of retaining solids, classified at levels P-I (> or = 0.5 to < 1); P-II (> or = 1 to < 5); P-III (> or = 5 to <15); P-IV (> or = 15 to < 30); P-V (> or = 30 to < 50); and P-VI (> or = 50 to < 80). One micron (plural micra) corresponds to a thousandth of a millimetre.
Reduction of Free Chlorine: capacity of reducing chlorine at the end of the product’s life span. The quantity of chlorine during aging for the test is 20 mg/l, approximately twice that used in the network. Classification: C-I (over 75%); C-II (74.9 to 50%); and C-III (49.9 to 25%).
Bacteriological Efficiency: retains, reduces or eliminates bacteria at specific standards. Classification: “Approved” or “dash” for those that have no function.

Conformity mark - Electrical Safety and Materials’ Constructive Quality
Since 1st August 2004 in Brazil, it became mandatory for manufacturers of water treatment equipment for human consumption, the certification and use of the Seal of conformity with the Brazilian standard NBR NM IEC 335-1:1998 for drinking fountains and drinking water supply equipment with electrical system incorporated, definition that also includes water purifiers, ozonators and filters electrically driven. |
NBR NM IEC 335-1:1998 specifies the minimum requirements necessary for electrical safety and the quality constructive materials used in the apparatus, which cannot be manufactured without the mandatory certification, according to Administrative Rule 191 of INMETRO, published in the Brazil’s Official Daily Newspaper on 16th December 2003.
The conformity seal brings the mark, in Europa’s case, of BVQI – Bureau Veritas Quality International – credentialed certifying entity, and it must be applied on the product and the packaging. Every Europa’s product with Europa’s electrical system meets INMETRO’s ruling.
EC Seal – European Community
The EC - European Community - Seal guarantees free transit and marketing of Europa’s products in the European common market. Identified by the letters “E” and “C”, was initially obtained for the Noblesse purifier line, then for Summer Line and CTA Smart line, and will soon be present in the other Europa models with electrical system incorporated.
The EC Seal obtained by Europa testifies the conformity with the strict European requirements regarding electrical safety and the materials’ constructive quality, based on standards IEC-60335-1:2001, IEC-60335-2-75:2002 and IEC/CISPR 14-1:2000. The tests were performed by BVQI – Bureau Veritas Quality International.
All improvements implemented in the apparatus with the EC Seal, according to requirements or the European market, have also been implanted in Europa’s products marketed in Brazil, resulting in greater quality and safety gain for the domestic consumer.
